SIOA Bible Study - Six-Week Course

Holy Queen: the Mother of God in the Word of God.

Why do Catholics revere Mary, Mother of God, in such a unique place in salvation? Is Catholic teaching, doctrine, traditions, and dogma, etc., regarding Mary found in scripture? What are the key Catholic doctrines and dogmas regarding Mary, her Immaculate Conception, perpetual virginity, Assumption, Coronation, etc.?

On October 17, 2022, at 7:00 PM in the SIOA school, teacher’s lounge SIOA bible study will follow the St. Paul Center bible study entitled Holy Queen: the Mother of God in the Word of God. This is designed to be a six-week study. Please join us!

A companion book entitled the same that may be helpful, but not necessary by Dr. Scott Hanh can be purchased from www.stpaulcenter.com or other online book or Christian resources.

The class should help its participants:

    1. To understand the biblical basis for Catholic faith and devotion to Mary.

    2. To understand Mary’s pivotal role in God’s plan of salvation as that plan is presented in the Bible and Church teaching.

    3. To gain a new appreciation for Mary’s importance in the family of God, and be able to express that more faithfully and intelligently in prayer, devotion, and personal witness.

    In week 1 participants should:

    1. Understand the basic outlines of the New Testament’s witness to Mary.

    2. Appreciate how the Old Testament forms the essential background for what the New Testament teaches about Mary.

    3. Understand “typology” and its importance for reading the New Testament texts concerning Mary.

For more information, please contact the parish office.
